The Chatham County Commission is slated to vote again Friday on a proposal to extend insurance benefits to employees’ domestic partners. At the board’s Feb. 13 meeting, the commission voted by a slim margin in favor of an amendment to the county’s personnel procedures and ordinance “to authorize employees on the County’s health insurance plan to enroll their same sex or opposite sex domestic partners in the plan.” The vote was 4-3 with commissioners James Holmes, Tony Center, Chairman Al Scott and Vice Chairman Priscilla Thomas voting in favor.
