The League of Women Voters of McHenry County hosted the last judicial candidate forum for this primary season Monday evening at McHenry County College.

The judicial panel was joined by 3rd SubCircuit of the 22nd judicial circuit candidates Jeannie Ridings, Justin Hansen, Mary McClellan and Donald Brewer; 4th SubCircuit judicial candidates, Kimberley Crum Klein and Mark Gerhardt; and Circuit Court Judge candidates Beth Vonau and David Gervais.

Early voting starts on Thursday

McHenry County voters can cast their ballots for the primary election as soon as Thursday.

Early voting will go from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at the McHenry County Clerk’s Office, 667 Ware Road, Woodstock, starting Thursday through March 16. California may pause student fitness tests due to bullying

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – California Gov. Gavin Newsom wants to pause physical education tests for students for three years due to concerns over bullying and the test discriminating against disabled and non-binary students. The move also comes after annual test results show a growing percentage of students scoring not healthy.

H.D. Palmer, spokesman for the Department of Finance, said the state has received complaints that the current examination’s measurement of body mass index is discriminatory to non-binary students.

A little-known startup company was picked by party leaders to develop a mobile app for reporting unofficial results, with key details such as the name of the firm kept confidential. Crystal Lake police issue 33 citations during Super Bowl campaign

The Crystal Lake Police Department issued 33 additional traffic citations after a recent Super Bowl enforcement campaign this past weekend.

These citations included 10 for unlawful use of an electronic communications device; 15 for speeding; four citations for failure to wear a seat belt; two citations for operation of an uninsured motor vehicle; and two for other moving violations and equipment.
