Cummer Director Hope McMath resigns

Hope McMath, director of the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens since 2009, announced Tuesday that she is resigning at the end of the month.
“We are both surprised and saddened but yet respect this personal decision that I know was not made lightly,” said Cummer Board of Trustees Chairman Ryan Schwartz. “We know our museum and our community are truly a better place because of Hope. ... Attendance has never been higher, programming is rich and our board is committed to ensuring meaningful experiences for all.”

600-foot Crowley ship floats Jacksonville's commitment to liquefied natural gas

Not even a week after being christened in a Philadelphia shipyard where it was built, the 600-foot fuel tanker MT West Virginia was on display at JaxPort’s cruise terminal this week as the latest vessel to join Crowley Maritime Inc.
“This ship was built to be converted to be LNG [liquefied natural gas] powered when LNG becomes available,” said Tom Crowley, CEO of the Jacksonville-based Crowley operations. “Crowley is working to supply LNG to our vessels here in Jacksonville. We’re in the midst of building that system out.”

 

26 Jacksonville companies listed among fastest-growing in U.S.

Twenty-six Jacksonville area firms are among the fastest-growing in the country. Each year, the Inc. 5000 list highlights the companies in the United States that have recorded the most growth over the previous three years. Topping this year’s list, which came out this week, is Loot Crate, the California seller of collectibles, gaming, T-shirts, etc. It’s grown more than 66,000 percent in three years, now taking in $116.2 million a year.

 

Latest design for amphitheater called 'mediocre' by critics

The design of the amphitheater and indoor practice field being built next to EverBank Field has morphed considerably from the renderings shown last year, when the city council agreed to put $45 million into a 50-50 deal with Jaguars owner Shad Khan.
