Netflix’s streaming service is great for parents with toddlers. Sometimes, you just need something to distract them for a little bit - like when you need to crank out a blog entry quickly, or when you need to prepare breakfast.
Netflix already has a Children (or Family) channel, but it’s not well organized and not easily accessible. The “Just for Kids” channel has most of their favorites lined up in the header - Super Why, Caillou, Leap Frog, Sesame Street, SpongeBob, and even Barney. When you click on any of those shows, an episode listing appears below it. This channel also has movies too. None of the content is new, but it’s nice to have it neatly organized all in one area, without having to search for them.
I also noticed that you can easily browse through episode listings now in the normal channels. There are indicators showing which ones you’ve watched and how much. For ones that you’ve only watched midway, you can resume.
Netflix has stumbled recently with their price hike and failed attempt to split up their DVD and streaming business, but they’re getting on my good side again by focusing on features that makes my life easier.
