ORLANDO – Speculation regarding Jimmy Butler’s future with the Miami Heat was rekindled Wednesday, with an ESPN report that the star forward “prefers a trade out of Miami” ahead of the Feb. 6 NBA trading deadline. Sources familiar with the process on both the team and player side insisted to the Sun Sentinel that no trade request or demand has been made. Butler, 35, is eligible to reach free agency this summer should he opt out of the final year of his contract, a 2025-26 player option for $52.4 million.
