After several months of reports, rumors and speculation, it’s not happening. Dalvin Cook will not be a Miami Dolphin. Instead, he’s going to another AFC East team with the New York Jets signing the four-time Pro Bowl running back from Miami to a one-year deal worth up to $8.6 million, according to ESPN and NFL Network. After his June 9 release from the Minnesota Vikings and throughout trade talks earlier in the offseason, the Dolphins were linked to Cook, but they never seemed willing to pay the price tag the Jets ultimately bit on. The move comes on the same evening of another well-known remaining free agent back, Ezekiel Elliott, signing with another AFC East foe for the Dolphins, the New England Patriots. The Jets were the one team Cook visited as he courted suitors, although he had easy access to the Dolphins, living and training in South Florida.
