I don’t simply say that because I’m the guy that said one month ago he’s not worried about the Dolphins’ backup quarterback situation. I say I think Thompson can do the job because I trust Dolphins coaches and management on this one. I trust that coach Mike McDaniel and general manager Chris Grier wouldn’t go through an entire offseason, and an entire training camp, during which they had a big backup quarterback battle between Thompson and Mike White, only to determine Thompson is inadequate two weeks into the season. Also, I trust what I saw during training camp. Thompson, who has improved since last taking the field as a starter in 2022, was better than White. I think the Dolphins (1-1) should have kept White instead of releasing him, but that’s another discussion. In short, I’m trusting Thompson, and I’m trusting the Dolphins.
