What Is A Headphone Splitter And How Does It Work?

Have you ever been on a long journey with a friend and wished you could watch the same show or music while you travel? In a car, you can just turn on the radio and play whatever you want. But on a train, plane, or other public transport, blasting whatever media you're watching is hugely inconsiderate for your fellow travelers. That's where the humble headphone splitter comes in.

  • Is there a diff between the green and pink cable???
I have the xp400, the audio is working fine, it's just the mic, I think I'll just buy the damned pink cord or the two way one like you mentioned, They're supposed to be wireless but they said you can use wired chat if you don't have Bluetooth, the headset was made for consoles so I need the little adapter thing ....

  • Do mic splitter always cause static noise?
The external USB soundcard you link to doesn't have a 4 conductor TRRS input so you would still need to split the mic and headphone functions to connect to it. If the mic is overloading the input on the PC that would cause a noise whenever the output of the mic got too high.

  • Headset microphone (with audio splitter) not working
Normally when I would plug the splitter in, a prompt would appear asking what type of device was just plugged in, options were headphones, speakers, microphone, headset, and one or two other options that I don't remember because I never used them. I would select "headset" and it would work just fine. Recently, something changed.

  • Solved!
The problem is both the microphones and the headphones when using the splitter: The headsets will only play sound on one side, and the microphone will not pick up any sound. If i press the jack from the headphones into the female jack from the splitter, sound and microphone seem to work, but will stop working if i let go.

  • Microphone echoes system sound when using 3.5mm splitter
I'm having an issue with my laptop's combination microphone/headphone 3.5mm jack. I bought a splitter for it so that I can use my headset which has one mic plug and one headphone plug. Currently, using the splitter, I am getting sound properly and the microphone is picking up my voice, however it also records any of the system's sounds.
