Composed of images taken from NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO), the space agency released a 30 minute video of the sun, as you’ve never seen it before.SDO uses 10 different wavelengths to capture one image of the sun each second in high-definition. This video is presented in ultra-high definition (4K), according to NASA’s YouTube page.According to NASA’s website, SDO is a semi-autonomous spacecraft that allows for nearly continuous observations of the Sun with a data downlink rate of 130 Megabits per second (Mbps). On board the spacecraft, which was launched in 2010, three instruments help guide a mission to “understand, driving towards a predictive capability, the solar variations that influence life on Earth and humanity’s technological systems …”Click here to learn more about SDO.
