GuilderlandMiss Siggy wanders the halls of Pine Bush Elementary School, greeting students as she makes her way from classroom to classroom.Children say she's the reason they want to come to school every day — reading time on the carpet with her is one of their favorite parts of learning. Teachers laughingly admit she's probably the cheapest employee in the district — costing about $2,500 for a lifetime of work and training — and, more than likely, the happiest to come to school every morning.For 11 years, she's helped students face their fears, gain confidence and fall in love with education, and she's done it all without saying a word.
