You may soon be hearing more of those charming British and Irish accents among Savannah’s 13 million annual visitors thanks to a newly formed partnership between Visit Savannah and London-based VVV Global Marketing. The one-year agreement, which began Oct. 1, created Visit Savannah’s first international sales office, which will be led by Jo Piani, director of United Kingdom and Ireland for VVV. “We’ll be educating people on the destination, what you can do here, where to stay, what attractions to do and also highlighting the proximity to Tybee Island,” said Piani, who will engage with tour operators, travel agents and media and will attend trade shows to market Savannah as a must-visit destination. International travelers account for about 10 percent of the city’s annual visitors and Visit Savannah has worked with the Georgia tourism office to market the city as part of the state.
