U.S. Highway 287 remains closed as crews continue to clean up a chemical spill that created an inhalation hazard early Tuesday morning in Hall County. Efforts to clean up the spill, which was caused by an overturned tractor-trailer carrying chemicals, resumed Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. and were still in progress as of 4:30 p.m. The spill was contained Tuesday, and on Wednesday crews began cutting the overturned vehicle into sections in order to safely remove it before they could clean up the contaminated soil. read more
