UPDATE: Police say authorites have determined that the small boat recovered between Skidaway and Wassaw islands was connected to a larger one that sank earlier in the morning. The three occupants were found safe by the U.S. Coast Guard. Savannah-Chatham police, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources initiated a search Friday afternoon after a mysterious boat led them to believe a mariner may be missing. About noon, marine patrol offices received word of an abandoned boat in the Odingsell River between Wassaw and Skidaway islands, said Sonny Cohrs, police spokesman. Once officers located the boat, they found personal items aboard the vessel, which led them to believe a boater might have gone missing.
