When we think of hiking, it’s going up a mountain, gaining elevation, and taking in the view from the top. But Colorado has enough variety — and terrific trail builders — to include flatter trails that might be easier on the lungs and knees. Are these just walks? I’d argue no. It’s still a hike when you’re on a dirt path and walking among the evergreen and aspen trees with the possibility of seeing deer, bear, elk and other wildlife.
