Teens charged after pellets strike LCSO vehicle and two other cars

PLEASANT HILL — Two teenage boys are charged with reckless endangering and criminal mischief after they allegedly used a pellet gun to damage a Lane County sheriff deputy’s patrol car and two civilian vehicles — one of them occupied by two young children who narrowly avoided injury, officials said.

 

Council to take up monthly fee

The Eugene City Council this evening will discuss a proposal to charge residences and businesses $10 a month to raise money for municipal government. The idea, suggested by City Manager Jon Ruiz, to help city government plug a $6 million budget gap, will be discussed in a 5:30 p.m.

 

Central Point man charged with impersonating U.S. marshal

A quick-thinking Rogue Regional Medical Center employee helped Medford police track down a “well-known scam artist” alleged to have impersonated a U.S. marshal seeking medical treatment. Donald Lee Anderson Jr., 42, of the 1000 block of Rustler Peak Street, Central Point, wasn’t difficult for police officers to find.

 

Highway 228 closed this morning in Sweet Home

SWEET HOME — Highway 228 in Sweet Home is closed this morning, and could remain blocked for hours, state transportation officials said. Police this morning requested the closure. A detour is in place. Both eastbound and westbound motorists will be directed to take local streets onto Highway 20.

 

AAA: Average price of gasoline in Oregon $3.34

PORTLAND — The AAA auto club reports the average price of gasoline in Oregon is $3.34. That’s down 4 cents in the past week, but a penny higher than a month ago. It’s 4 cents higher than the national average.

MEDFORD — The Southern Oregon Historical Society says its finances are in better shape, and it’s preparing some expansion efforts this year. The group has struggled since 2007, when Jackson County ended support.

Egan Warming Centers remain open

The Egan Warming Centers for area homeless are open tonight and will open again Monday as nighttime temperatures are forecast to continue to fall below 30 degrees. A decision will be made Monday about whether to also keep the centers open on Tuesday and/or Wednesday nights.
