Tennessee manufacturer opens Michigan location

Morrison Industries, based in Morrison, Tenn., has expanded operations with a second plant, located in Novi. The company hosted a grand opening and ribbon cutting, June 28 for the new 50,000 square-foot facility. The event included a reception and guided facility tours. Novi city officials and Novi Chamber of Commerce members attended, along with business partners and community members.

 

New senior assisted living community holds grand opening in Auburn Hills

The new First and Main senior assisted living community is now open in Auburn Hills. The 104,000-square foot facility is located on Walton Boulevard just west of Squirrel Road. With 60 assisted living apartments and 44 memory care apartments, First and Main spans three floors with an array of amenities such as an outdoor terrace and golf-area, a movie theater, a physical fitness and cognitive center, raised gardens and a chapel.

 

Man charged in fatal drunk driving crash returns to court July 26

The Troy man charged in a drunk driving crash that killed one of his passengers and critically injured another will return to court July 26 for a preliminary exam before Rochester Hills' 52-3 District Judge Lisa Asadoorian, who will determine if the case will proceed to Oakland Circuit Court.

 

Westbound lanes of I-696 in Oakland County closed for fifth weekend

The Fourth of July Weekend won't stop construction along I-696 in Oakland CountyWestbound I-696 between Dequindre and Telegraph will be closed this weekend for the fifth time in six weeks. As part of a $12 million, four-segment, resurfacing project along I-696, which is scheduled for completion in November, those westbound lanes will be closed from 9 p.

 

Oakland County's three-year, $2.6 billion, budget addresses financial uncertainties

Oakland County's 2019-2021 budget shows no significant changes from the prior year's three-year budget. This according to Laurie Van Pelt, the county's director of management and budget. She said the county executive's recommended budget will be presented to the board of commissioners on July 19, which will be followed by finance committee public hearings in August.

 

10,000 people expected for Royal Oak Outdoor Art Fair

More than 90 artists will take part next week in the annual Royal Oak Outdoor Fair at Memorial Park and more than 10,000 people are expected to show up, organizers say.Now in its 48th year, the art fair offers free admission, live music, and food July 7-8."We're expecting a good turnout," said John Dedele, head of the city parks and recreation department that organizes the fair with the Royal Oak Arts Council.

Four Oakland County area business leaders won Ernst and Young 2018 Entrepreneur of the Year awards. They are Jeanne Jeup, co-founder of the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education of Northville; Joe Hessling, founder and CEO of 365 Retail Markets in Troy; Joey Agree, president and CEO of Agree Realty Corporation in Bloomfield Hills and Brad Oleshansky, founder and CEO of M1 Concourse, LLC in Pontiac.

 

Citizen helps cops find crime suspects in Pontiac

Thanks to information from a resident who followed suspects in a retail fraud at a Pontiac Family Dollar store, two arrests were made and a stolen vehicle was recovered Monday morning.The Oakland County Sheriff's Office reports the resident called after he saw three people flee the store in the 1200 block of Baldwin Road at around 8:40 a.

 

Did your car get broken into last night?

Auburn Hills police announced this morning that they had arrested two people for stealing from unlocked cars and open garages in the area of South Boulevard and Squirrel Road. Besides issuing a warning in a Facebook post that you should always make sure you car doors are locked, they also are asking residents to check to see if they are missing any property.

 

James Clark named partner with Blumark

James Clark was named as a partner with Blumark, a financial service and tax advisory firm, based in Troy. Clark has a master's degree in business administration from the DeVos Graduate School of Management at Northwood University, and a bachelor of arts degree in finance from Oakland University.
