Bacteria count high north of S.C. 5

Water samples from two of three tested locations on the Catawba River registered high for bacterial contamination days after a massive sewage spill in Charlotte, state environmental regulators reported Thursday.
High bacteria counts showed up in water samples taken from the Catawba River at Sugar Creek, where the sewage runoff entered the river, and the Catawba Indian Nation landing about 4 miles downriver, according to the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control.

Two men have been arrested and sheriff’s deputies are looking for a third in connection with shootings at a Lancaster mobile home park Wednesday evening, one of which was captured on video by a witness and posted online.
Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to 130 Melton Park Circle in Lancaster Wednesday about 7 p.m. in regards to a shooting in progress.
