Letter to Editor: A welcome choice in 165th

To the Times:I was encouraged to learn that the amazing Regina Scheerer will be on the primary ballot for the 165th Legislative District on May 15. Regina, a lifelong resident of the district, has an abundance of real-life experience. She has worked in real jobs, paying taxes - including property taxes, and raising her family.

 

RTM bus drivers get pay hike

MIDDLETOWN >> The Rose Tree Media School Board voted unanimously to approve a three-year agreement with the district bus driver/custodial maintenance association. The contract, beginning July 1, will provide a 2.4 percent wage increase for 2018-2019, 2.6 percent for 2019-2020 and 2.7 percent for 2020-2021.

JUST BE FAIRSo the federal judges in Washington also agree with the Pennsylvania judges that the new map is not gerrymandering, it's fair. Maybe Andy Reilly will stop complaining. Now we're back to regular districts as opposed to the stupid irregular districts that made no sense. You're supposed to represent and be elected from the districts that you come from.

 

Man held for trial in DUI crash that injured nuns

An Upper Chichester man has been held over for trial on all charges in an alleged DUI crash in December that sent four nuns and the defendant to the hospital.Dylan J. Dostellio, 21, of the 500 block of Taylor Avenue, is charged with 24 counts, including felony charges of aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence, aggravated assault by vehicle and accidents involving death or injury, as well as misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and related summary driving violations, including careless and reckless driving.

The news hit like a thunderbolt, even though nobody was really all that surprised.The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference was first with an announcement, followed later by a similar statement from Cheyney. The nation's oldest historically black university had decided to drop its NCAA Division II status at the conclusion of the upcoming spring season due to financial difficulties.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT>> Radnor police cited a 52-year-old of Rose Lane in Bryn Mawr with disorderly conduct following an incident at a woman's residence on Conestoga Road in Rosemont that occurred March 4 at 2:09 a.m. According to police, the complainant contacted police and reported she brought someone described as a random white male home while she was at the Garrett Ale House.

 

Providence Animal Center Pet of the Week: Arabella

2-year-old female Mixed Breed Say hello to Arabella, the sweet little girl who is looking for a loving forever home. Arabella is small, weighing around 15lbs, with black and white fur. She was rescued from a southern overcrowded shelter and brought to Providence Animal Center in Media, formerly the Delco SPCA, where she is now waiting like the tiny princess she is for a family.
