Community reportKids, parents and grandparents are invited to compete in the Family Lip-Sync Battle at 6 p.m., July 9, at Mentor Public Library's Main Branch, 8215 Mentor Ave.Families can make their performances as big as they want with choreography or matching costumes. There's no such thing as "too much" in a lip-sync battle, according to a news release.

Parma man arraigned on felony theft charge

A 39-year-old Cuyahoga County resident arrested in Concord Township April 14 was arraigned June 20 in Painesville Municipal Court on one felony and one misdemeanor charge, court records show.His arraignment paperwork confirms George Shuffert, whose address is 9214 Fernhill Ave., is accused of stealing a silver, 2007 BMW X3, along with violating a protection order issues by Berea Municipal Court.

 

Lawmakers want pure maple syrup exempted from added sugar label rule

A bipartisan group of U.S. Representatives and Senators is asking the Food and Drug Administration to exempt single-ingredient honey and maple products from what they say will be a misleading disclosure.The FDA is proposing changes to the Nutrition Facts Label, something that hasn't been meaningfully updated in decades.

 

Lake Erie College welcomes new board, faculty members

In addition to new students enrolled at Lake Erie College, there will be some other new faces on campus. The School of Education is bringing on a new faculty member to lead some of their graduate offerings. Beth Walsh-Moorman will oversee the college's Master of Education in Literacy and Reading Endorsement programs, according to a news release.
