Her work can be found in the Smithsonian, Grammy Museum, National Portrait Gallery and Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame.

For the ninth consecutive summer, the Cleveland Shakespeare Festival will perform outdoor Shakespeare at James A. Garfield National Historic Site this year. The performance of "Troilus and Cressida" will take place at James A.

 

Lake County ADAMHS Board begins fiscal year with new officers, budget

The Lake County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board officially transitioned to a new fiscal year last week during its annual meeting at Quail Hollow in Concord Township. Established by Ohio statute, the ADAMHS Board is responsible for planning, funding, monitoring and evaluating Lake County's community-based mental health and addiction recovery services.

 

Summer Manufacturing Institute at Auburn Career Center makes things interesting for youth participants

The skies were overcast outside of Auburn Career Center in Concord Township during the late morning hours of June 22.But inside the school, solar cockroaches were in the spotlight.The "roaches" on display actually were created as a student project at the 2018 Summer Manufacturing Institute.

 

Lake County state Reps. introduce bill assisting homeowners with coastal erosion

Lake County's two state representatives are sponsoring a bill they say will give coastline property owners an additional option assisting in mitigating erosion or financing other improvements. Reps. John Rogers, D-Mentor-on-the-Lake, and Ron Young, R-Leroy Township, say their legislation will enable residents with shoreline property an opportunity for the creation of a shoreline improvement project financed by a special improvement district or SID.

 

Maple Street in Perry closing for railroad work

The Lake County Engineer's Office announced that, weather permitting, Maple Street will be closed between Depot and Main streets in Perry Village from June 25 to June 29 for CSX Railroad to remove asphalt by a crossing, stabilize the base and repair the tracks.

 

Painesville traffic to be affected by railroad work

Painesville City has received an update from Norfolk Southern Railroad extending the closure of Riverside Drive through June 29. In addition, delays are anticipated of up to one hour on Tuesdays and Thursdays through Aug. 2 on East Walnut Avenue between Valley View Drive and Wintergreen Hill Drive to accommodate the delivery of steel beams by the railroad contractor.

 

Willoughby Hills mayor sues over ordinance

The legal fight between Willoughby Hills Mayor Robert Weger and City Council continues. The mayor filed a lawsuit in Lake County Common Pleas Court on June 20 against the council over an ordinance that would appoint council president Nancy Fellows as acting mayor in any matter in connection with the city's AFSCME Union.

 

Riv-Har Duck Race tickets now available

Community reportThe Jane Ann (Jenkins) Zinn Grand Riv-Har Duck Race will be run on a portion of Big Creek behind Helen Hazen Wyman Park from 11 a.m. to noon, Sept. 8. This is the 17th year for the race, which is run the morning after the annual Riverside vs. Harvey football game. The Duck Race has in past years raised over $90,000, and these funds are split evenly between the two alumni associations and are used for scholarships and other programming.
