Man is fatally shot inside a Georgia mall

COLUMBUS, Georgia (AP) — A man is dead after he was shot multiple times Saturday afternoon inside a mall in Columbus, Georgia.Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan tells local media outlets that the victim, Anthony Meredith, died from multiple gunshot wounds. Meredith, 24, was pronounced dead at Midtown Medical Center.The front entrance of Peachtree Mall was sealed off with crime scene tape as Columbus police investigate the shooting that reportedly happened around 8 p.m. in the food court.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California legislators and labor unions have reached a tentative agreement that will take the state's minimum wage from $10 to $15 an hour, a state senator said, a move that would make for the largest statewide minimum in the nation by far.

 

Savannah-Chatham police investigate suspicious death on West 38th

Violent Crimes detectives of Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department have launched an investigation into the suspicious death of Lakesha Nicole Mays, 35, who was found in the yard of an abandoned house on the 300 block of West 38th Street on March 26, according to spokesperson Eunicia Baker.Metro arrived at the scene at about 1:47 p.m. after Mays was found by citizens. Metro’s Patrol Division, Violent Crimes detectives and Forensics Unit responded. An autopsy at the Georgia Bureau of Investigations Crime Lab will be scheduled at a later date to determine cause of death.

 

Savannah-Chatham police seek to identify alleged sexual assault suspect

Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police detectives seek to identify a black male suspect who reportedly sexually assaulted a woman at a church on Lewis Mills Boulevard on March 26 just before 10 p.m., according to spokesperson Eunicia Baker.The suspect then entered a red car, driving away from the scene in an unknown direction.Investigators are following leads to identify this suspect.
