Oregon State Police seek hit-and-run suspect

Oregon State Police are looking for a suspect in a Wednesday afternoon hit-and-run in Sunriver who may be in Madras.According to responding Oregon State Police Trooper April Ratliff, Agustin Ayala-Sixtos was allegedly driving a car with three passengers when he hit a car containing two females, an adult driver and juvenile passenger, around 2:30 p.m.

Redmond seeks downtown proposals

The city of Redmond is requesting proposals for its new Downtown Jumpstart Forgivable Loan program, funded by the Redmond Urban Renewal Agency. A select project can be given up to $500,000 for an “anchor attraction" project that will serve as a destination in downtown Redmond.Projects must be dining, lodging, entertainment or destination retail, with a minimum four-to-one ratio of private-to-public dollars. Projects also need to be located in the Downtown Overlay District and consist of new construction or substantial rehabilitation.

 

ODOT plans changes to Brothers rest stop

The Oregon Department of Transportation has begun changing the rest area on U. S. Highway 20 in Brothers. The refit is expected to take two weeks.Most notably, the rest stop will no longer have running water or flushing toilets.

 

Man convicted of sex crimes

A Bend man was found guilty of multiple crimes against a child by a Deschutes County jury on Tuesday.Alejandro Hernandez III, 27, was convicted of first-degree unlawful sexual penetration, first-degree sexual abuse and third-degree assault.Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 28.

 

Missing Bend man’s body found; Man missing since Sept. 6 appears to have killed himself

The body found northeast of Chemult has been identified as Bend resident Jonathan Sullivan-Shipley.According to Klamath County District Attorney Rob Patridge, the 42-year-old’s death has been ruled a suicide by self-immolation.“The body was disfigured by fire," Patridge said.r>Sullivan-Shipley was reported missing by his family on Sept. 6. Home Federal to be bought

Idaho-based Home Federal Bank has agreed to be acquired by Banner Corp., parent company of Banner Bank, of Walla Walla, Wash., and Islanders Bank, in Friday Harbor, Wash., according to a news release issued Tuesday.The announced merger would give Banner Corp.

More roadwork set on Galveston

The city of Bend plans to repair asphalt on Galveston Avenue between Northwest 14th Street and Harmon Avenue from 7 a. m. to 4:30 p. m. today. The city will also work on the street during the same hours on Thursday.Lanes will be closed for the work, but the city will use flaggers and signs to maintain two-way traffic during the project, according to a city press release.

 

Prescribed fires scheduled

Firefighters on the Bend-Fort Rock Ranger District plan to ignite a pair of prescribed fires, one on Friday and another next week.
