In 1913, pair of couples hurry to exchange vows

Monday is Columbus Day, a federal holiday.

However, many federal offices are already closed due to the ongoing government shutdown.The U. S. Post Office, which is not affected by the shutdown, will be closed on Monday.However, city, county and state offices will be open for business, as usual, including local libraries.

 

Clifford — Welch

Mat Clifford and Gloria Welch, of Bend, celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with a trip to Bangkok, Phuket, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore with their family.The couple were married Oct. 13, 1973, in Tempe, Ariz. They have two children, Brent (and Annie), of Maui, Hawaii, and Lindsey, of Bend. Mr.

 

Baker — Moser

Erica Baker and Jason Moser, both of Terrebonne, were married Oct. 5 at McMenamin’s in Bend. A reception followed.The bride is the daughter of Dennis and Vesta Baker, of Springfield. She is a 2002 graduate of Sheldon High School and a 2009 graduate of the University of Oregon, where she studied Spanish and substance abuse prevention.

 

Dunmire — Henry

Lindsey Dunmire and William Henry, both of San Diego, plan to marry Nov. 10 at Pronghorn Resort in Bend.The future bride is the daughter of Bret and Mary Dunmire, of Dallas, Ore. She is a 2003 graduate of Dallas High School and a 2008 graduate of Oregon State University-Cascades Campus, where she studied business administration.

 

Miller

Robert and Marlene (Puettner) Miller, of Bend, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a party at their home with visiting and local Bend families.The couple were married Oct. 3, 1953, in Chicago.

 

Frost — Aylor

Megan Frost and Andrew Aylor, both of Portland, plan to marry June 21 at St. Francis Church in Bend.The future bride is the daughter of Russ and Cheryl Frost, of Bend. She is a 2005 graduate of Mountain View High School and a 2009 graduate of the University of Portland, where she studied nursing.

Soroptimist plans anniversary party

Soroptimist International of Bend will celebrate its 70th anniversary at the Des Chutes Historical Museum in downtown Bend from 1 to 3 p. m. on Oct.
