Vancouver man struck by car, seriously injured crossing street in Hazel Dell

A Vancouver man suffered serious injuries Monday when he was hit by a car while crossing the street in Hazel Dell.
Jesse Gellatly, 34, tried to cross Northeast 99th Street near Northeast Seventh Avenue after 6:40 p.m. and was not inside a crosswalk, Clark County Sheriff’s Sgt. Chad Rothenberger said.
Seconds after stepping foot on the road, a car swerved to barely avoid Gellatly, Rothenberger said. A woman driving a Toyota Tundra then struck him despite hitting the brakes.

 

Police search for hit-and-run suspect after man hit by car

Vancouver police are searching for a hit-and-run suspect after a man was struck by a car Monday in the North Image neighborhood.
A middle-aged man entered a crosswalk just after 7:20 p.m. at Northeast 112th Avenue and Northeast 28th Street, Vancouver Police Sgt. Pat Johns said. A car making a right turn onto the eastbound side of the road hit him and knocked him down before leaving the scene.
The man, whom police are not identifying at this point, was treated for a concussion and soft-tissue damage among other injuries, Johns said.

 

Former state lawmaker registers as lobbyist

OLYMPIA — Former Democratic Rep. David Sawyer has registered as a lobbyist months after he lost his primary election following an investigation that found he violated the House’s policies on harassment, decorum and ethics.
The state’s Public Disclosure Commission website shows he is registered under his firm, Arrow Consulting LLC. As of this week, his sole client is The Gallery Glass & Wares, which operates marijuana stores in Tacoma, Fife, Puyallup and Spanaway.

 

Children molested by foster child awarded $3 million

SEATTLE — A federal judge has approved a $3 million settlement for three children who were molested after a Washington state adoption caseworker placed a sexually aggressive 12-year-old boy diagnosed as a “psychopath” into their home without telling the family.
