The first babies of 2014 took their time making appearances at local hospitals. Alexander Wilson Hay IV, born at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth, arrived nearly eight hours into the new year, at 7:46 a.m. Wednesday, nine days after his expected date of arrival. About an hour later, South Shore Hospital saw its first of four New Year’s Day babies.
