A food service worker at the Chapman Middle School was arrested on statutory rape charges Wednesday night hours after she was placed on administrative leave from her job, police said.

State hires French firm to run commuter rail

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation board voted unanimously on Wednesday to change operators of the state’s expansive commuter rail network, awarding a lucrative $2.69 billion contract for the next eight years to the French rail company Keolis. The unanimous vote came after the MassDOT board of directors heard concerns from the current operator - the Massachusetts Bay Commuter Rail Co. - about the evaluation process and from union members worried about whether Keolis had deliberately low-balled labor cost estimates to underbid MBCR.

 

'Brim Beanie Bandit' robs Stoughton bank for second time

Marshfield sportsman's death stuns friend

Steven James of Marshfield was an avid sportsman and advocate of the outdoors who friends say used his passion to give back. James, 53, of Marshfield was killed Tuesday when the 15-foot aluminum skiff he and two other men were on capsized. Fellow sportsman and friend Mike Pierdinock of Marshfield struggled to come to terms with James' death. "Stevie hunted all over the world, in some dangerous, dangerous situations, and he dies duck hunting. I just scratch my head,” Pierdinock said.
