Mound work continues with lane closures Tuesday, Wednesday

Northbound Mound Road from 14 to 16 Mile Road will have three lanes closed Tuesday into Wednesday afternoon as part of the ongoing construction project. Access will be maintained to residential and commercial properties throughout the project, which is scheduled to be completed by Nov. 2. The Macomb County Department of Roads is asking for motorists cooperation and patience while this project is being completed, according to a release issued by the agency Monday.

 

State health department investigating cases of legionellosis; 24 cases confirmed statewide since July 1

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services is working with local health departments to investigate cases of legionellosis. So far in 2018, there have been 135 confirmed cases of legionellosis reported in 33 counties, compared to 107 confirmed cases during the same timeframe last year. According to MDHHS, Oakland County has seen 16 confirmed counties in 2018.

AMVETS Post 52 in New Baltimore is host and the starting place for the Aug. 11 Macomb County Veterans and Supporters Ruck. A ruck is walking with a backpack, according to event organizers.Participants in the event include the Anchor Division U.S. Naval Sea Cadets, supporters of 22 Until None (veteran suicide prevention), and the Macomb County Veterans Community Facebook group.

Journey, Def Leppard join forces for hit-filled tour

This is not the first time Journey and Def Leppard have gone on through the night on tour together. The hit-laden bands from either side of the pond hit the road together during 2006, at an interesting time for both. Journey was thrown for a loop when singer Steve Augeri, who had replaced Steve Perry eight years prior, had to bow out near the start of the tour due to throat problems; Jeff Scott Soto was hastily added to fulfill the dates.
