Lawsuit by parents of suspected fatal Stony Creek crash driver tossed

A federal judge dismissed a lawsuit against Macomb County and sheriff's officials by the parents of the teen who was identified as the driver in the 2015 Stony Creek Metropark car crash that killed three teens.The ruling does not appear to resolve the claim by Jonathan Manolios' parents that he was not was the driver of the Jaguar that crashed into Stony Creek at the Washington Township park, killing him and two other teens and injuring two passengers.

Hotts Spots: Construction begun for BJ's Brewhouse in Sterling Heights

Construction is underway on a new BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse on Hall Road in Sterling Heights, on the outskirts of Lakeside Mall.It will fill the vacant Linens N' Things retail store on the north side of the mall, immediately east of Andiamo restaurant. Macomb teen named Miss Michigan's Outstanding Teen

Some who know her say Maria Evola is an outstanding teenager.Now the 15-year-old Macomb Township resident has a tiara to prove it.Evola was crowned Miss Michigan's Outstanding Teen on June 13 at the Frauenthal Center in Muskegon. She now hopes to take that title one step further by competing to become Miss America's Outstanding Teen 2019 later this month.

House Armed Services chairman's tour shows off Macomb's military might

The Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee had heard all about the important role that Michigan plays in defense from the committee's newest member, Congressman Paul Mitchell (MI-10).But on Monday, Texas Congressman Mac Thornberry got to see it firsthand."I certainly did not appreciate the extent of the cutting edge defense technology that goes on here," said Thornberry, who accepted Mitchell's invitation to tour some of the state's most important military installations including Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Harrison Township and the U.
