Review: Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson open new Twins of Evil Tour at DTE

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP -- Thin Lizzy's "The Boys Are Back in Town" played on the PA just before Rob Zombie took the stage Wednesday night, July 11, at the DTE Energy Music Theatre -- a fitting overture for the evening's hard rock festivities. The boys in question were Zombie and Marilyn Manson, self-proclaimed Twins of Evil hitting the road again with a The Second Coming Tour sequel to their first joint venture during 2012.

 

DSO heads to Grosse Pointe for weekend shows

The Detroit Symphony Orchestra will play its annual summer shows this weekend at the Ford House, 1100 Lake Shore Road in Grosse Pointe Shores. The DSO, conducted by Joshua Gersen, plays a Hollywood Night at 8 p.m. Friday, July 13 and "An American In Paris" on Saturday, July 14. Both start at 8 p.m.

 

Rizzo Sr. attorneys say he 'willfully turned a blind eye' to scheme

Attorneys for Charles Rizzo Sr. say he admits his role in a scheme involving "phantom dumpster" invoices, but then point the finger at a business associate as the person who orchestrated the scam and has not faced any criminal charges.The allegations were made in a memorandum in advance of Rizzo's July 24 sentencing before federal Judge Robert Cleland in Port Huron for one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud as part of the ongoing public corruption probe centered in Macomb County.

 

Southbound Mound to have lanes closed Thursday to Friday afternoon

Southbound Mound Road from 14 Mile to 16 Mile roads will have three lanes closed Thursday into Friday afternoon as part of the ongoing construction project, according to the Macomb County Department of Roads.Access will be maintained to residential and commercial properties throughout the project, which is scheduled to be completed by Nov.

Athletes gear up for Anchor Bay Triathlon in New Baltimore

Area athletes will take to the streets of downtown New Baltimore and the waters of Anchor Bay this weekend for the Anchor Bay Triathlon.The 33rd annual event is scheduled to kick off at 7 a.m. Saturday at Walter and Mary Burke Park. Racers of all levels will compete in a half-mile swim, 11-mile bike ride and 3-mile run along paths in and around the city's historic downtown.
