WASHINGTON — President Trump’s legal team suffered a double setback yesterday when a judge denied a bid to block prosecutors from accessing materials seized in a raid of his personal attorney, Michael Cohen — and in the process forced Cohen to disclose that he has also represented Fox News personality Sean Hannity.

Boston police were admonished for labeling a police candidate “untruthful” regarding an answer he provided about his abilities in Spanish and were forced to reinstate a conditional job offer to him, the state’s Civil Service Commission said in a recent decision.Paul Dabene Jr., 25, appealed the Boston Police Department decision last August to not hire him as an officer because of a finding of “significant concern regarding untruthful information previously provided to the department.”

LOWELL — Witnesses say a 61-year-old man who was fatally struck by a pickup truck in Massachusetts had been walking on the sidewalk when he slipped off the curb and into the truck's path.The man was hit and killed Monday in Lowell. His name has not been released.Penny Cote and Joe Johnson tell the Lowell Sun they were walking with the man when he slipped and was hit by a passing truck.The driver of the truck remained at the scene of the crash.Police continue to investigate. No charges have been announced.

YARMOUTH  — Massachusetts is paying its final respects to a police officer who was killed in the line of duty.A vigil and visitation for Yarmouth K-9 Officer Sean Gannon is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, while a funeral Mass is scheduled for Wednesday morning. Both will take place at St. Pius X Roman Catholic church in Yarmouth. The funeral Mass will be followed by a private burial.The 32-year-old Gannon was shot and killed last Thursday while he and other officers were serving an arrest warrant at a home in Barnstable.

After rejecting consultants looking to lead the planning process for a memorial honoring survivors and first responders of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings, city officials are starting again — with two-thirds of the budget.Officials released a request for proposals yesterday for consultants to hold numerous meetings with residents about what they want to see in a memorial that will “speak to the resilience of Boston.”

SALEM, Mass. — A scholarship named for the Massachusetts Institute of Technology police officer killed by the Boston Marathon bombers is being given out for the first time this week.The Salem News reports that the Sean Collier Memorial Scholarship is scheduled to be awarded Thursday at Salem State University's annual criminal justice department banquet.The first recipient is sophomore Danalee Williams.A school spokeswoman says the $1,000 scholarship will be given to Williams annually until graduation as long as she remains in good academic standing.

PALMER — Authorities in Massachusetts say a man killed himself after accidentally shooting his girlfriend over the weekend.A spokesman for the Hampden district attorney says at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday police in Palmer responded to a 911 call about a woman with a gunshot wound to the lower back.The 21-year-old woman told responders that her boyfriend had accidentally shot her while he was unloading his gun. She was taken to the hospital with injuries described as life-threatening.

Desiree Linden overcame daunting conditions Monday morning to become the first American to win women's race at the Boston Marathon since 1985.Linden took the lead from Kenyan Gladys Chesir at the 35K mark and cruised to victory in the 122nd running of famed race from Hopkinton to Boston.Linden, 34, ran solo over the last five miles and broke the tape in 2:39.54, the slowest winning time in 40 years. Linden became the first American to win the women's race since Lisa Larsen-Weidenbach (2:34.06) broke the tape in 1985.
