Cops: Pot dealer arrested on weapon, drug charges

Police say a pot dealer is behind bars for dealing large quantities of marijuana in the Mattapan and Dorchester areas.Howard Robinson, 48, of Mattapan was placed under arrest after a monthlong drug investigation, cops said.He was found in possession of multiple bags of marijuana weighing a total of approximately 4 pounds when cops pulled him over.Police say they saw Robinson driving in the area of Armandine Street on Saturday afternoon and he appeared to be involved in a drug transaction.

WEST YARMOUTH, Mass. — Police canine Nero is recovering following being injured during a shooting that killed his handler.The Yarmouth Police Department posted a photo of Nero on Sunday morning, reporting that the 28-month-old Belgian Malinois is "back on his feet" following a Friday surgery.A photo of Nero was posted , showing him bandaged and with a tube inserted into his torso and dubbing him "OUR FOUR-LEGGED HERO!"

 

Peace activists plan anti-nuclear protest on Patriots' Day

BEDFORD — Peace activists are planning a nonviolent action in Lexington on Patriots' Day to protest what they call nuclear escalation.Massachusetts Peace Action says participants in Monday's demonstration will stand frozen for two minutes on Battle Green in Lexington before walking about three miles to the gates of Hanscom Air Force Base to engage in "acts of peaceful, nonviolent civil disobedience."
