Celeste Holm dies at 95; actress won Oscar for role in ‘Gentleman’s Agreement’

Celeste Holm, 95, a musical comedy star who also showed a flair for dramatic work and won an Academy Award for her sympathetic role in “Gentleman’s Agreement,” Elia Kazan’s landmark 1947 film exploring anti-Semitism, died July 15 at her home in New York City.

Gloria Stuart, a 1930s Hollywood leading lady whose first significant role in nearly 60 years -- as the centenarian survivor of the Titanic in James Cameron's 1997 Oscar-winning film about the ill-fated ocean liner -- earned her an Academy Award nomination, has died.
