A man suspected of terrorizing women with sexual assaults from Virginia to Rhode Island over a span of 12 years as the so-called East Coast Rapist has been arrested in Connecticut, federal and local authorities said.

A convicted rapist wanted in the killing of a woman was arrested Monday, police said shortly after the woman's father, a N.C. police chief, had pleaded with peers nationwide to find the man.
