Spotted lanternflies have made their annual return for the summer, relaunching conversations about how best to kill the pesky insect that threatens various U.S. industries and species. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) launched a five-year strategy to reduce the insects’ spread in 2023 through support from federal and state authorities, greater scientific research, and public outreach.
