Sentencing Handed Down In Bvu Kickback Scheme

Two former vice presidents and a contractor for Bristol Virginia Utilities Authority were sentenced in federal court in Abingdon on Thursday for defrauding the company of hundreds of thousands of dollars in a kickback scheme.Former Vice President of Field Operations Robert James Kelley Jr., 61, Lexington, Va., pled guilty in March to one count of a multi-object conspiracy to commit mail fraud, money laundering and to defraud the United States for his role in taking illegal kickbacks from two contracting companies he was tasked with supervising.Kelley was sentence to 30 months in prison and ordered to pay $330,510 in restitution.
