SE Texas voters head to the polls for municipal races Results from today's election will affect governing bodies in Port Arthur, China, Silsbee, Vidor, Lumberton, Kirbyville, West Orange and Sour Lake, among other municipalities, including one state race, for State Senate District 4. There has been some confusion about what will be on the ballot Saturday, and who can vote. Theresa Goodness, assistant county clerk in Jefferson County, said a lot of voters showed up for early voting thinking it was the primary runoff election in races such as the 252nd Criminal District Court and County Court at Law 3. When they looked at the ballot, many turned around and went home because they didn't know enough about the candidates. The Primary runoff election is set for May 27. Goodness said she's also had calls from people confused by races including candidates from only one party wondering if it were a primary election in which only registered members of that party can vote. "Any voter in the county can vote in this election," she said. Port Arthur ISD At-Large (Vote for 2) State Senate Dist.
