City of Savannah employees are doing their part to make sure America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia has enough food on hand for families in need. Employees accumulated 23,349 cans during the Great Savannah Canned Food Drive, exceeding last year’s total of about 21,000 — one of the largest donations received by the food bank, according to city officials. Surrounded by city trucks loaded with cans, Mayor Edna Jackson, along with City Manager Stephanie Cutter, praised the effort during a press conference Friday in the parking lot of the Civic Center. “You have given so generously and you did it unconditionally,” Jackson said.
