Ridgefield, like most districts in the area, is in the midst of an enrollment decline, which has prompted some residents and officials to call for closing a school or redrawing district boundary lines to even out the disbursement of students across the six elementary schools. Several years ago, the school board targeted 2,000 elementary school students as the threshold that would trigger school closure discussions.
