MORGANTOWN, W. V. — UCF saw its postseason hopes go up in smoke as West Virginia’s CJ Donaldson scored two rushing touchdowns, leading the Mountaineers to a 31-21 win over the Knights Saturday.
The loss knocks UCF (4-7) out of bowl contention and guarantees back-to-back losing seasons for the first time since the 2015-16 seasons.

The redshirt freshman quarterback, who was making his third career start and second straight on the road, completed 52% (11 of 21) of his passes for 172 yards and a touchdown.
Rizk wasn’t perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but his biggest highlight was finding Kobe Hudson on a 45-yard pass midway through the third quarter.

MIAMI — For all the lengths the Miami Heat have gone to temper expectations with Kel’el Ware, veteran big man Kevin Love said there actually has been an effort to get the first-round pick out of Indiana to emulate at least one aspect of the game of Hall of Famer Patrick Ewing.
It was at the outset of the 1982 NCAA championship game when Georgetown’s Ewing was called for five goaltending violations in the first five minutes.
MORGANTOWN, W. V. — The move was meant to be symbolic, but in a way, it was almost defiant.
As UCF exited the locker room for the start of Saturday’s game against West Virginia, players and coaches locked arms as they slowly marched out of the tunnel onto the field at Milan Puskar Stadium.
It was meant to highlight the team’s theme of toughness and togetherness.
This season, this theme has been tested repeatedly as the Knights suffered through perhaps their most disappointing season since 2020.
