For fans, it makes choosing what's most worthy of their time slightly more difficult to do. For the streaming company's competitors, it feels unfair that they aren't transparent as to how well or how badly its shows are doing – something the TV networks and cable companies have no choice in due to public ratings numbers. But some research companies are able to sidestep Netflix's secrecy.
