PPG announced Friday that it was selling its fiberglass business to Nippon Electric Glass Co. Ltd. for $545 million, concluding the Pittsburgh-based company's traditional fiberglass manufacturing. The fiberglass business includes a research and development center in Harmar, plus manufacturing plants in Chester, S.C., and Lexington and Shelby, N.C., with about 1,000 employees and $350 million in annual sales.
