My dear wife has asked me to write a short post about the accomplishments of the governor of our home state, J. B. Pritzker, who is receiving a Crooks & Liars Crookie "Good Guy" Award for 2024. Which is impossible. You can either have a short post about J. B., or you can have a tally of his accomplishments, but not both.

California Governor Gavin Newsom continues to be on the best and most skilled voices in the Democratic Party and I predict that he will be a Presidential nominee - in 2028 or 2032. That is why I nominated him as one of my picks for the Crooks and Liars 2024 GOOD GUY of the year.

A one-month-old baby allegedly abandoned by its parents in a car seat on a Pecos Street median on Christmas morning was exposed to cocaine, according to an Adams County Sheriff’s Office arrest affidavit. Jarvis Sims, 42, and Christina Thurman, 33, are charged with misdemeanor child abuse and reckless endangerment after they allegedly abandoned their baby near their Sherrelwood apartment. The baby’s name and gender were redacted from the arrest affidavit. A woman who found the baby told police she saw a couple arguing around 8 a.m.

The Environmental Protection Agency is ordering Colorado to rethink a Suncor Energy air pollution permit for the third time in two years, leading environmentalists to question whether state regulators are serious about enforcing federal air quality laws at the Commerce City refinery. This time, the EPA’s order concerns the refinery’s Title V permit for its Plants 1 & 3, which refine crude oil into gasoline and other fuels and asphalt.

The Colorado Avalanche School for Wayward Hockey Players has enrolled a new student. Colorado traded a third-round pick in 2027 and Ondrej Pavel to the Nashville Predators on Saturday for Juuso Parssinen and a seventh-round pick in 2026.
