Norton School Board Keeps Adams On Payroll Without Work

NORTON — The Norton School Board voted on Monday voted to keep football coach James Adams on a paid, inactive status pending an ongoing personnel investigation. The five-member board met with Adams, his wife, his attorneys Steve Minor and Richie Kennedy and board attorney Rodney Young in closed session for 45 minutes before continuing their closed-door session for another hour and 15 minutes. Adams was not in the open meeting room before or after the closed session, but he sat in a hallway talking with Minor, Kennedy and family members after their session with the board. “I move that the board approve the superintendent’s recommendation to continue the current status of employee 07222019 for the duration of the current ongoing investigation,” said board member Wes Campbell after the board came back into public session.
