A real killer autocross car in the day required fitting of the 1500cc from an X1/9, with the appropriate head work and a pair of 40 DCOEs. Talk about David vs Goliath situations. It would destroy most cars at the event.
- SKS Stock RefinishingI'm looking to refinish the wood stock that came with the Yugo SKS 59/66 that I picked up recently. I see no markings on it that could be considered collectible. It's just in mediocre condition and IMO would look a lot better refinished. I was planning on using a MinWax Pre Stain, MinWax Stain followed by a MinWax Polyurethane coating.
- Yugo M70 and M72 (RPK) receivers - what's the diff?Stamped Yugo M70s use the RPK receiver. The special features are that they are thicker 1.5mm vs 1mm and they have the "bulges" for the extra material on the trunnions. Normally you can NOT use a stamped kit with a milled receiver because the OD of the barrels are different.

They are heavier than other AK variants because of the thicker receiver, grenade launcher sight, and thicker barrel. However the finish quality of the rifles, and individual components is higher than average for AK variants.
