Bookmark or Share- How should I understand "a hundred years on" in this sentence?A hundred years on means a hundred years later; i.e. a hundred years after superconductivity was first observed. I looked in the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary , the Oxford English Dictionary that's built into my Kindle and en.wiktionary.org, and the best I could find was:

Can you update me on this year’s achievements? (In this sentence, we are using ‘on’ with ‘year’ because the preposition ‘on’ here works on the word ‘achievements’ and not ‘year’.)
- difference - "Four years on" vs. "four years later" - English ...The subtle difference that I understand between the two is when we say "four years on" we usually mean that something has been in a continuous state for those four years, whereas "four years later" would be better suited after a certain event took place and changes may have happened.
- Some years on/in - English Language & Usage Stack ExchangeX years on simply means that we are talking about something that happens five year after an earlier mentioned time. X years in means that we are X years into something that takes a certain (usually long) time to finish.
- 5 years on / 5 years later - WordReference ForumsI'd like to know the meaning of "4 years on" in the title of the introduction of a book's new edition. The title is "Introduction to the new edition: 4 years on ." I'm wondering whether it means the same thing as "4 years later" as the first edition of the book was published 4 years ago.
