Bookmark or Share- Change the scale of the horizontal (category) axis in a chartThe horizontal (category) axis, also known as the x axis, of a chart displays text labels instead of numeric intervals and provides fewer scaling options than are available for a vertical (value) axis, also known as the y axis, of the chart. However, you can specify the following axis options:
- Add or remove a secondary axis in a chart in ExcelAdd or remove a secondary axis in a chart in Excel. When the numbers in a chart vary widely from data series to data series, or when you have mixed types of data (price and volume), plot one or more data series on a secondary vertical (value) axis.

XY (scatter) charts and bubble charts show values on both the horizontal (category) axis and vertical (value) axis, while line charts show values on only the vertical (value) axis.
