You cannot use the apex to control when the unit adds water to the sump. That being said you can program the apex to turn off the tunze under various circumstances.

For less money I was very satisfied with many aspects of theses skimmers. Now reading about the Simplicity DC skimmers I going to order the 240Dc model for my new setup. May 23, 2018.
- zeovit and reactors | Reef2Reef - REEF2REEF Saltwater and Reef Aquarium ...Easy to use and clean it. If you allow me, one advice: go slow with Zeovit! It is an amazing system... but go slow! Start with the basic: Reactor, Zeostart and Zeoback and nothing else. Anything else later in the process, start with less than half of the indicated dose. In Zeovit, “more“ is usually never better.
