Bookmark or Share- Tippmann Troubles - Leather Sewing Machines - Leatherworker.netI don't own a Tippmann, but I do own a 441 class machine that I use the Tandy polyester 346 thread on. If I am sewing softer leather I can get away with a #25 needle. But if I go to a harder/more dense leather like saddle skirting I got to use a #26 needle with the 346 thread or the thread starts to break or fray.

The wife and I agree that I can't spend $3,000 on a sewing machine for a hobby -- so no motorized machines unless I find one for a steal -- but I can handle $1,500. So that has me looking squarely at the Tippmann Boss and the Cowboy Outlaw.
- Tippmann "BOSS" Hand-stitcher for Belts? - Leather Sewing Machines ...Nearby, someone is selling a complete, working used Tippmann Boss machine for $350. My main market is work belts and gunbelts in the 12-16oz range. I'm wondering if this would be a good purchase. I've been hand-stitching for years now and wondering if this may be a good decision to make a leap into the machine stitch side of leather.

I understand Weaver's desire to use a Chinese clone for their Adler products, the Exchange rate on the Euro has to be killing them now.
