A good plot will go through periods of trial, then rest, then repeat until the conflict is resolved. But Maze Runner felt to me more like periods of torture, then depression.

The grievers usually roam around at night, but one of the variables that WICKED uses at the end is that the maze doesn’t close, and the grievers slowly take one boy every night.
