TCE is a clear, colorless, nonflammable liquid with a sweet, fruity odor. TCE is a lipophilic, volatile organic compound, and readily evaporates at room temperature. TCE is slightly soluble in water; soluble in ethanol, acetone, diethyl ether, and chloroform; and miscible in oil.
